Lots in the works...

It's that time of year!

Life is getting crazier by the day - I guess that means the holiday season is approaching! I have been trying to work so much between 3 different jobs right now, I'm so thankful for the moula but man I'm getting tired and kind of stir crazy. I should prlly get out and dance. This coming Thursday is American Thanksgiving and I am soooooo excited to stuff my face and bake my pumpkin pie. It feels like it's been a while since I've had a big feast. I actually can't remember that last holiday meal I ate...I'm pretty sure it was last Christmas. Dang. It is exactly 4 weeks today that Phil & I fly back home for 11 wonderful days and I am so excited. We put up our little tree up last night and I should get shopping very soon - when I get some spare time!

 ^ little tree ^
I also have a new endeavor that I'm stoked about starting. For the people who know me well and have been in my life since childhood, they could probably say I've attacked them once or twice with a makeup brush :) I've always loved the art of makeup, and have watched my mom do hers (once a makeup artist as well) since I can remember. I've been doing friend's makeup since we were old enough to wear it and I have plenty of practice under my belt. I'm also hoping to take a class or two in the new year. So. I have decided to start my own makeup business that caters to everyday people for special events & occasions, bridal, and who knows what else. I shall call it, fussyjussy beauty. I will hopefully be launching a website and will have business cards available before Christmas. Since I don't have a portfolio of work, I will be doing nothing but complimentary services until I build up some evidence. Therefore! Ladies in LA - if you need any holiday makeup services done, please leave me a comment! I would be more than happy to be of assistance.

Sorry I have been slightly MIA on the posting - I have dedicated my life to making a buck at the moment to help with the extra holiday costs. I'll leave you with a holiday suggestion spot: TopShop, (which I've talked a little about before) is a UK based store (for the ladies) and has the trendiest, funkiest, clothing, shoes & accerories at fairly reasonable prices. They cater to the States but not to Canada. Sorry Canada :(  If you need party dresses, gift ideas, or a Christmas gift for yourself, check it out!

Hope all the Americans have a wonderful Thanksgiving week...<3

Spread the fussiness...

FussyJussy Button Love.

If you like reading fussyjussy and have a blog or website of your own, I would be so honored if you added an FJ button :) I have designed these little buttons on limited graphic applications (I don't have any fancy programs like Photoshop etc.) so forgive me for their more simple appearance! These buttons are a great way to promote your site/blog and I would love to add yours to mine. Thank you so much for reading and spreading the word.

Love the fussy queen...xo.

Desiree Jennings...

Educate yourself about vaccinations.

Desiree Jenning's story really touched my heart because I have always been and will continue to be wary of vaccinations. I have never received the flu shot, will not be receiving the H1N1 shot, and if I was thinking of receiving any kind of shot, I would be doing some heavy research prior. Vaccinations these days are taken extremely lightly, almost as if you were popping in to get a cup of coffee and people are not taking the time to find out what exactly is being injected into them.

Desiree Jennings indeed had a rare reaction to a seasonal flu vaccination, however I think it shows the dangers of the side effects (rare or not) and sheds light on the other components within vacciantions (like mercury for example). This beautiful 25 year old, athletic, pro football cheerleader was severely disabled after getting a flu shot this past August. She is unable to walk or talk normally, has siezures/blackouts after eating and has trouble concentrating on more than one stimuli. She is able to walk backwards and run forwards, as well as being able to talk normally only when running. She has been diagnosed with an incurable disease called Dystonia that was triggered by components in the flu vaccination. Recently she has made tremendous improvements (which I am over joyed to hear about!) and is slowly regaining the ability to walk and talk normally. Please visit her site for more information and updates on her progress!

Please don't listen to the hype of the media. If you are in a high risk category for the flu or H1N1, do your research and recieve the proper vaccination. Our thoughts have a massive impact on our body & health - by filling our minds with fear and paranoia, you are welcoming illness with open arms. Eat well, live well, think well and more often than not you will BE WELL. To health!

What not to do at restaurants: A Server's Point of View

Don't piss your server off. They are responsible for what you're about to eat.

I haven't been a server for very long so I'm sure more experienced servers would have plenty more things to add to this post. However, with the little time I've been a sever here's a quick list of how not to disrupt the harmony between you (the guest) and your beloved (hard working!) server.

*Don't come to eat in public and look like you're pet/friend/lover/parent just died - no one wants to look at your sour, miserable face...you've come out in public to have a good time, if you want to sit and sulk please don't drag me down with you. (I deal with this one way too much.)
*If you go to a busy restaurant (like the one I work at) don't ask to sit somewhere "quiet" - if you want quiet, stay home.
*When your server greets you or is talking to you - look at them. To not acknowledge that we're there is just plain rude.
*If you're going to send your food back because there is something wrong with it, make sure it is so wrong that you really just can't bare it. Sending a "Double-Decker" burger back because there are 3 pieces of bun (it's a DOUBLE DECKER) is not a valid reason to have your food remade. Do not waste food if it is not dire.
*If you were not taught any manners, then fake them. I'm sure you've seen them somewhere along the line. Use "please & thank you". I don't care if we're getting paid to do this.
*In North America, the serving wage is peanuts because the government relies on the public to make up the rest - so please tip...decently.
*Don't live up to the racial stereotypes - it's sad but true. The same races don't tip or tip very poorly. Get with the times folks or please, spare us and stay home.
*Remember that servers are people - we are not your b*tch.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...
*Have some PATIENCE, understand that we are doing A LOT at once and for more than just you. It is understandable if your server is taking an absurd amount of time to get frustrated but more often than not we are going as fast as we can - so CHILL OUT.

I hope this assists you in having a wonderful time dining out - wherever you're dining. We are not the enemy.
Happy Eating...!

and futhermore,

Etsy Goodness.

Good afternoon everyone! I am so excited that Christmas is only 7 weeks away and we fly home to Toronto in 6. Time to get shopping!!! For those of you who don't know,
Etsy is a great site to find unique, fun items of all sorts that are made of recycled materials or gently used clothing/shoes. Most things are hand made and it is a great outlet for the creativeness of creative people. One of the blogs I follow, oh, hello friend has suggested a great Etsy shop for adorable doily clocks (see left). They are hand made by an artist named Brenda and run for about $26-$28.50 - what a cute Christmas gift! Check out Brenda's Etsy shop and furthermore, for her clocks and other fun pieces for the home.
Also, check out oh, hello friend for lots of inspiration, attention-to-detail EVERYTHING, and their Etsy shop that consists of great hand made rings, necklaces, hair accessories and more.

In other news! I'm thinking about taking my blog up a notch. I know I don't have too too many readers at this point and would like to change that by adding different sections on different things - what do you think? I would have a page just for reviews, a page for my personal blogging on my life & such, a page on my makeup business, a page on career, etc. If you have any suggestions/ideas/comments I would LOVE to hear them - please email me at fussyjussyblog@gmail.com.

2010 New Years Resolutions...I almost put Revolutions...that woulda been weird.

It's never too early to make goals!

So, I'm here at work, sitting, thinking, sipping my tea, eating my sugar cookies dipped in tea, and my thoughts are twirling about as this year comes to a close and a new one is upon us. Some might say I have a freakishly good memory. Remembering last Christmas/New Years seems like it was, at most, a few months ago. A year? Really? But, but, but...what have I accomplished? Not even half as much as I thought I would've. However, I did have some pretty big questions answered, discovered a lot about myself, and can now say I'm not worried about the things I want to happen, happening.

I know I've said before that I'm a very passionate person - what I truly want comes from deep within my heart & soul - and everything I've wanted bad enough, I've received. Everything. They may not have happened WHEN I wanted them too, but they eventually manifested in my life, usually without me noticing until I take a step back. From the man the married, to the location in the world I'm living, to the apartment we have (it's far from perfect but my vision was an old world charm "struggling actor" vibe) to our car - these are pretty big things to just have "handed to you" - and by that I don't mean that I didn't have to work for these things, but they were put in front of me by something else. It all started with a determination/s in my heart (whether I was consciously making these or not) and voila...they've all happened!

So! For 2010 here's what I would like to see happen...
-AGENT! I need an agent.
-MANAGER!
-Vocal lessons (Silverlake Conservatory of Music)
-Dance classes (Hip Hop, Salsa, Ballet)
-I am starting a beauty company on the side that I will discuss more about in the near future!
-Improv class!!!
-Get new headshots (duhhhh)
-PERFORM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!
-Possibility: LA Marathon
-Find a new apartment

Well, I'm sure that will keep me busy for at least part of the year right? Alrighty - start thinking about all the things that you would like to see happen in 2010, no limiting, no doubting, just write down everything you want. Really want!!!

Happy November!
